Discerning The True Voice

Discerning The True voice
By Liz King

In a world of constant noise, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube videos, Media, and false gospels that tells you what to believe and think, it's hard to discern the real truth and also prevents us from being able to hear the true voice of God.  Many now get their faith or beliefs from what their social media tells them.  There are many lies and false gospels floating around.  Many truths are based on feelings rather than God's truth.  Many things being taught sound good, welcoming, or affirming, but are rooted in one undiscernible lie.   Many people who call themselves "Christians" or "Progressive Christian."  Their gospel is absent of the main themes of the Gospels.  Some are mixing other religions with the Gospel which goes against the whole truth of the gospel. They make God a ritual and they make the gospel political or self-approving.  It lacks surrender, repentance, and dying to oneself.   The problem is many Christians don't know what the truth is and are unable to discern the truth of God from the lie of the enemy.  They can't even hear the true voice of God at all because all the other voices they are choosing to entertain that are confusing them and leading them astray.  These voices are screaming over the still small voice of God.

The times today are all about gratifying oneself, entertaining voices that yell and distract over the airwaves of our phone. We are bombarded by music and videos and influencers that are all about themselves and feed us nothing spiritually.  We decompress and escape our problems by videos, books, and people saying they have words from the Lord and people look to them for their truth.  Many do not even have a consistent, relational prayer life. They lack worship and reading God's word to learn his voice.  Many are unable to discern the true voice of God from the world and the enemy.  Our minds are being thrown in every direction and we lack spiritual stillness.  We run to movies, Netflix, show binging, books and devices to escape our troubles or bury what we are facing instead of running to the one he brings peace and restores.  Many say they are too busy and don't have time to pray or spend time with God, yet they can sit in front of a phone, a screen, or book for hours.

If we never hear the truth or spend time in and with the truth, how will you be able to discern it when a well cloaked lie is thrown at you.  We can't.  Many people love to dress in designer clothes.  Many people believe they are wearing the real thing, only to find out it is a fake when taken to someone who works and spends time with the real product.  When they go to sell it, they find out it is worthless and are turned away by the one who knows the true product.  It may have looked good, it may have looked like the real thing, but it was a rip off of the real thing.   It did not hold any true value. What one believed was a truth, was a well disguised lie.  So, if you spend your more time with the fake product, the voices of the world, not knowing or researching the real product aka God's word and prayer, your time is being wasted.  You are believing a counterfeit. It benefits you nothing spiritually or eternally.

We have to be more discerning than ever because the lies and voices of this world are getting louder than ever.  It gets hard to hear God when you have 10 voices telling you 10 different truths.  Many Christians do not test every spirit anymore. They are pulled in every other direction because they are being led by everyone and everything than the true shepherd, Jesus Christ.  How do we expect to hear from God if we never listen to him and learn who he is and his character?  Many run away from those who love them and who speak Gods truth, because they are unable to discern God's truth form the worlds lies. God's truth hurts them because it goes against our fallen human nature that is defiant against God and his truth.  Many are hurt and choose to believe the truth of those who are not centered in Christ and God's word.  They want to be coddled rather that corrected by God spiritually, which is for their eternal benefit.  It's not for instant gratification.

Many enter a relationship with God for their benefit and not His and his kingdoms benefit. The gospel revolves around them and their wants instead of Gods.  Their religion is not Jesus, it is themselves.  We seek comfort in other things rather than God.  We need to break away from the distraction, the lies, the unfruitful things that will not benefit us.  We need to get away from the voices of the world so we can hear the voice of God.  We need to know God's word and stay in it so we can stand when tested and stand when the lies of the enemy come to get us off course.  If we are grounded in God's word will easily be able hear the lies and deception of the enemy.  I want us all to be able to hear the true voice that matter.  The voice that corrects, loves, teaches us for an eternal glory.  The Gospel is not about our opinions, truths, or affirming ourselves, it's about Jesus and his love for us to save us and to make us new creations. It's about serving him, surrendering, dying to ourselves, it's about him changing us, it's about removing the faith in ourselves and putting it into Jesus.  Most of all its about saving us from ourselves and our own destruction. So, learn the true voice of God, not the voice that fits what we believe, but fits who God says he is and brings glory to him, not you.  listen to the voice that changes us and makes us more like him, not like the world.  Now more than ever in all of time it is vital to learn the real voice of God. He is coming soon and those who can't discern his truth will be left behind with the ones and things they chose to follow. Do not compromise the truth and voice of God.

The Dangers of the Last Days

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence ofvulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires. (Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.)

John 10:1-5
“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber! But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
