Importance of Worship

     “What sex is to marriage; worship is to God!”  A friend of mine said. As I ponder this, I began to think of worship in my own life and life of the church. When you get intimate with your spouse, you don’t spend a minute while working up to that “special” moment and then break away to do something else. You don’t return for another minute or two just to abandon the intimacy again to do something else and return for another minute. Intimacy builds. You spend time pleasing that person and focusing whole heartedly on that person. The same way it is with our worship with God. As I was spending time with God today I came across John 4:23-24 Jesus talks about true worshippers! “The true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and we must worship him in spirit and in truth.”


    God desires us and worship is when we come before His throne and we give ourselves to Him and recognize who He is and what He’s done, not only in our lives but the lives of others! He is the first and last!! He is the creator of the universe and desires a relationship with us, but sadly a lot of us do not desire a relationship with Him. “We honor him with our lips but our hearts are far from him. Matthew 15:8  These same lips that claim to honor him on Sunday,  curse and slander during the week.  Why is that? To some of us church is just a routine we do not see it as a time to come together to worship our God. For some that is the only time they take to do any form of worship. We give God maybe an hour out of 168 hours in a week. Some are too busy to take time to worship or spend time with God. When we go to worship we deal with pride and what others will think if we truly worship, forgetting in the end His opinion is the only one that matters!


    Worship is so important in our relationship with God!  In 2 Samuel 6:14 King David stripped down to his underwear (in a sense) and danced as he unabashedly worshipped God in front of his people. God desires that we humble ourselves before Him and acknowledge who HE is. If we do not surrender the time and intimacy needed we do not allow His spirit to move the way He wants it to move. When His spirit moves we see healing, deliverance, repentance, and so much more. 


    When you are intimate with your spouse you become one with that person. Genesis 2:24. You create a soul tie with that person, so it is with God. Without intimacy, marriage grows cold. If you really love someone you want that love. All I want for myself personally is to be loved. I want my husband to desire me with his heart, soul and mind, but I’d rather him love God with Everything in his being before me. The same it is with God. He wants that with you.


    The Bible says when we draw near to God, He draws near to us James 4:8. 

We wonder why nothing happens when we pray or God Doesn’t answer us, but how much time do actually invest in our relationship with Him? We would rather run to our best friend about our needs, wants, or problems before we even go to Him.  Yet He is the God that supplies. He is not a God of convenience, He doesn’t need us. He desires us!! Without intimacy a marriage will fail, the same goes for our relationship with God. We worship him not only with our hearts, but our mind and actions and what you do and surround yourself with.  In your marriage we honor our spouses with what we do, or how we act.  We think of them constantly because we are one with them.

     

    My husband surprised me last night with cookies from a bakery. He went out of his way to get them for me because he was thinking of me. With God we offer ourselves not only in worship but also in service because we think of Him. He gave us free will. He does not want forced love, He wants you to choose Him! Through worship we are filled with His love which spreads to others. So take time to be intimate with the God of creation because he desires you. He loves you so much He gave Himself for us. John 3:16


    God knows our inner most thought and being. NOTHING is hidden from Him. He knows our needs and loves us and that’s   Why worship is so important, it’s so His spirit can move freely in our life. Worship along with prayer and reading His word we get a better understanding of who He is, what He desires, and what he is goin to do in our lives.

  Unveiling of the Heart By Liz King Our hearts reveal a lot about us.  Our actions and words come directly from the condition of the heart.  I’ve felt strongly that I am to write about the heart.  As I have been deep in God’s word the last few months for a podcast I am a part of, I have seen one constant theme throughout the scriptures that we study, our heart condition.  Jesus tells us to guard our hearts, to judge the fruits of the heart, and that in our words and actions our hearts will be revealed.   Is Pride Hiding in You? By Liz King Pride is something every human being deals with.  It was the downfall of Lucifer and the downfall of man.  Every sin is rooted in pride.  God clearly states throughout the Bible he hates pride. He despises the prideful and haughty. Pride is the inward elevation of oneself.  It is someone who is reliant on oneself and resists the submission to God.  In Job 41 pride is linked with the demonic sea monster Leviathan.  Pride is also linked with things we may not consider, like worry, unwillingness to listen to someone’s criticism, the need to be constantly affirmed or recognized, thinking you are right and others are wrong, lack of self-worth, arrogance, and fear. Many people, if you asked if they were prideful, would immediately respond, “I’m not prideful!” That is an immediate sign of pride.  Many do not consider themselves to be prideful, while others parade around with pride as a banner and their heads held...
