Let Go

Image
Letting Go By Liz King Holding on to things can be good, like holding on to the faith, truth, or the promises of God.  Holding on to things can also be bad but as humans we have a habit of holding on to things that are bad for us, especially spiritually. We hold on to things like sorrow, fear, trauma, abuse, hurt, hate, anger, bitterness, lies told to us by people when we were younger or by the enemy or an abusive loved one, and things done to us by people.  Why do we have such a hard time letting go of the bad things?  When we hold tight to the bad things, we easily can let go of the promises of God and the truth of God. There is an old saying, “Time heals all wounds” but that is a lie. We can carry pain with us throughout our lives. I am a living example.  From bullying and abusive relationships, I held onto their words more than God’s truth.  It kept me from moving forward in my walk in Christ until I let go and surrendered it to Him.  The things ...

Living a Life of Compromise

Living A Life Of Compromise By Liz King Many of us today live in compromise.  We are surrounded by the world's ideologies, many religions, belief systems, sin, opinions, and deceptive doctrines.  What is Compromise?  The Oxford Dictionary defines it “as an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions.  It also is defined as this: Compromise- weakened (a reputation or principle) by acceptance of standards that are lower than is desirable.  To bring into disrepute, or danger, by indiscreet, foolish, or reckless behavior.”  If compromise is a dispute between two sides, what sides would that be?  I'm not talking about land or your favorite dessert, I'm talking about Spiritual compromise, your soul. Many Christians today live in spiritual compromise not realizing this compromise can have dangerous eternal consequences and we will one day have to give an answer to what we compromised with.  So, who is...

Danger In The Church

Image
Danger In The Church By Liz King Today's church is very different to that of the predecessors of the past.  It has gone far from the origins of believers meeting in homes, sharing testimonies of what God has done, and singing hymns and songs of praise to Jesus.  The Christians of Acts, when they met, were all of one spirit and one mind.  They were all believers.  After meeting in their homes they then went out and shared the gospel with an unbelieving world. This is far from the church we know today.  Church many now see as a building, not a people.  Some churches are more focused on entertainment value and filling the building rather than focused on sharing the gospel to a dying world.  The “Church” is now about appeasement and comfort instead of conviction. Many try to find a church that supports their feelings and political views.  The church has become more about us instead of about Jesus. There is great danger to changing the gospe...
