When We Focus on Others and Not Ourselves Liz King Many of us spend more time focusing on others' problems than we do on ourselves. It reminds me of the scripture about removing the plank from your own eye, before you try to remove the plank from others. When we are busy focusing, criticizing and pointing out the flaws of others, we lose sight of our own spiritual life and lose focus. How can we look where God is leading us if we are busy looking at everyone else's lives and actions? There are times where God does put people in our path to help point them back to him and encourage and exhort them. We are to point out things we see to those who are believers when they are going against God's word and are living in a life of sin.
