Predestination

Image
Predestination  By Liz King     Many people believe that God picks and chooses who will inherit eternal life.  They believe that God created the humans with the idea of who he would choose to go to heaven and who would go to hell.  I am going to pick this idea apart to argue how this belief is contradicting to the whole nature of God and how it is more hurtful than glorifying to him.  I believe it is a belief that would turn people away from a compassionate, merciful, and gracious God.  Instead, this belief to me paints a picture more of an unfair and limited God.      If we go on this idea that God has already picked the ones whom he wants to save that means, at least to me, that his sacrifice on the cross was not for all mankind but only for the ones he already picked.  So basically, if you were the creators favorite you got a get out of jail free card.   This idea to me can be damaging on so many levels...

The Spirit Behind The Horror

Image
The Spirit Behind The Horror By Liz King     Are Horror movies okay to watch?  Is it okay to allow our children to consume something that's whole premise is to instill fear and expose them to blood and gore?  Many people love horror movies.  They love being scared and seeing the darkness as it fills the screen.  Many say it's only entertainment.  It's harmless.. Is it though?  Is it really harmless?  Are we as parents to allow our children to spiritually ingest these types of films?  Well, God is writing this through me right now so let's see how he feels.     Many go to the movies to be entertained and forget their troubles at the door.  They sit in the movie theater or on the couch to relax and put their defenses down.  The first part of entertainment is enter. I still find that very telling.  We put our defenses down and let whatever is on that screen enter our spirits.  We are coming into agr...

The Enticement of Witchcraft

Image
The Enticement of Witchcraft By Liz King Why do so many people flock to witchcraft, especially those raised in a religious home? I was one of them.  We are more willing to trust in rocks, crystals, and sage than we are the God who created them and us.  We trust the things we have been given dominion over to have dominion over us. We search horoscopes to tell us what the future holds and tarot cards to make our decisions and tell us what we are to do with our lives and who to be with and who not to be with.  We trust the stars and moon which were hung in the heavens to tell us times and seasons to determine our day to day activities. We are also the creation, why do we trust the creation to dictate to us and our lives.  Why do we not trust and seek the one who created these things and has ultimate power and authority over everything?  I think part of it is pride and power.     Many Christians nowadays have one foot in "Christianity"...

The Great Deception

Image
The Great Deception By Liz King     Many Christians nowadays are easily deceived.  Many who claim to be Christians are not anchored in the word of God and lack wisdom and understanding when it comes to the word of God.  Why is this?  Why do they claim to believe in something they are only active with on Sunday?  They pick and choose scriptures in the Bible and base their whole faith and truth on that one verse.  Sometimes the verse is horribly taken out of context, and they use their own understanding to define their faith instead of God's.  This is where their Christianity is a belief and a religion and not a relationship.       Many start their relationship with Christ full force, and they devour the word of God and also seek him fervently in prayer.  Many times, as trials and tribulations come, they retreat from God instead of to him.  Many get lazy and it becomes easier and easier t...

Trust Him

Image
Trust Him By Liz King For those who feel hopeless, Jesus can be your hope. For those who feel worthless, let God show you your worth!  If you feel unloved, look at what Jesus did on the cross. If you feel like you are unforgivable, Jesus will forgive. For those who are restless, Jesus can give you rest. If you feel like you have no purpose, God created you for a purpose! For those who feel like they can’t trust anyone, you can trust Jesus. for those who feel lost, he will leave the 99 just to find you.  For those who feel broken, He will restore you. He conquered death, he conquered sin, and he can conquer your demons!  Trust him! -Liz King

God IS Love

Image
God IS Love By Liz King       Love in today’s society has become the focus of books, movies, television, social media, and now it is even in the political arena. We have apps focused on “love” or dating websites just centered around finding your true “love”. My question I ask though is what is love??  Is our love different than God’s definition of love? Can we redefine what love is if we do not really understand what real love is? God has put this on my heart for over a year to write about what love is and how HE defines it.      We as humans equate selfishness, lust and passion to love. If it feels right to me, it's love.  C.S. Lewis wrote a book called The Four Loves.   The four loves that we as humans understand are 1. Affection (storge) 2. Friendship (philia) 3. Romantic (Eros) 4. Charity (agape) but what is real love?  As humans we are selfish and want to do what makes us happy or feel good. Rarely do we put others before our...

Do You Trust God or Your Circumstances

Image
Do You Trust God or Your Circumstances By Liz King     As Humans we live in a fallen state and fallen world due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve.  Because of their disobedience we suffer pain, trial, and tribulations.  Everything from sickness, death, pain, and brokenness.  It is  unavoidable.  As believers we are to trust God and keep our eyes on him.  How many of us really do that?  Do we really trust God, or do we trust our circumstances more?  Is there more faith in the circumstance, or is your faith anchored in God and his promises?      A great example in the Bible is when Peter walked on water after seeing Jesus walking on the water.  Matthew 14:22-33.  The Disciples are on a boat ant night  and in the darkness, they see a figure walking towards them on the water.  They begin to become terrified until Jesus tells them that it's him and not to be afraid. Peter being the passionate m...

My Heavenly Father

Image
My Heavenly Father By Liz King I have a Heavenly Father who loves me so. He makes the trees and the green grass grow. He made my eyes, my mouth, and my nose, My ten fingers and my ten toes. Every part of me my Heavenly Father knows, And it’s from his love, that all grace flows. I am his workmanship, his glory, his rose, His unique masterpiece that he wants to show. I was created for a time such as this, For a special purpose, I don’t want to miss! He thought of me before he made the world I’m in, So I could praise and glorify him. His love for me is so wide and so deep, He risked it all to give me his peace. As I grow, I will learn of him, How much he cares for me and molds me from within. So when I’m scared, or lonely, or sad, I know my Heavenly Father will hold my hand. Before I fall asleep I can call on his name, To guide and protect me, for I am his lamb. He will go before me, below, above, and behind. Because I am his sheep and He is mine.
