Are you a sheep or a goat?

Image
Are you a sheep or a goat? By Liz King Matthew 25:31-46     Today as I was in God's word, I was reading about the sheep and the goats.  Jesus compared us to sheep and goats.  One day, when he sits on the throne to judge or deeds and choices we made, he will separate us like shepherds separate sheep and goats.  One group is destined for his kingdom and the other is destined for hell, a place void of his presence and glory.  How many of us consider ourselves a sheep?  Are we really?  Or are you a goat disguised as a sheep?  That really resonated in me.     How many people who claim to be Christians but live like a goat? What do I mean?  A goat is stubborn, selfish, a loner.  It is an animal that eats anything weather good or bad.  It is a bully and chooses what it wants over the need of the other animals.  Goats are destructive, curious, and sometimes dangerous.  Sheep on the other hand are op...

The Power of an Empty Cross

Image
The Power Of An Empty Cross By Liz King     What has been the most powerful weapon in all of the world, creation, and eternity.  It is not a sword, it is not a nuke, it is not a tank, or machine gun, it's not even the Bible!  It is the cross!! It is the one weapon that destroyed the enemy.  It is the one thing everyone is afraid of and uncomfortable with…. Why? Because it's empty!!     The Bible is a very effective weapon.  It can cut to the very bone and marrow but it is the cross that was used to win the victory.  Jesus won the victory on that cross and it reminds the enemy on where they failed.  It reminds them of their defeat.  It reminds them of their eternal sentence. It reminds them that it gives us freedom from them and sharing their own fate in eternal damnation.  It is not the cross itself, it was what was done on that cross.  It is the place where the enemy unknowingly and accidently destroyed themse...

The Importance of Guarding Your Spirit

Image
The Importance of Guarding our spirit. By Liz King     Is it important to guard our spirits in what we watch and listen to? Does it matter what we let in our souls? Why is music and entertainment so important to our society? It's just music, right? There's no harm in listening to music or movies that don’t honor God, it's just pretend, they are just words, it's not like I'm doing it. Is that the argument we make?  Is listening to music or movies that are not glorifying to God really that harmful?  I think yes.  When we listen and watch things it's like we put all of our defenses down and let whatever message is shared into our spirit.  We basically come into agreement with what message is being shared.       What happens when we allow things day after day into our spirit that can influence us spiritually?  We can become numb to the messages they share, and they can become implanted in our subconscious...

How Do You Fight?

Image
How Do You Fight?? By Liz King      When we pray for someone, it can become a very one-sided prayer.  Especially when it comes to hurt. I was praying about a situation once, and I thought I was focusing on praying from a place of love.  I then heard in my spirit, "Are you fighting for them, or against them????".   I pondered that for a minute and then I felt that I needed to write what God is revealing to me at the moment.  It made me not only think of the people in the situation but also my own motives, and tactics in praying. Tactics on HOW we fight!     When someone hurts us or angers us, do our prayers become selfish and one sided? Do we pray our will or God’s will?  Do we pray as the other person's friend or foe?  When someone hurts us, our feelings are hurt and we can pray based off of our feelings, rather than God's desire.  Are you praying for vengeance? Self-validation? Judgement?? or are we prayin...

What Does It Mean To Surrender?

Image
What Does it Mean to Surrender? By Liz King     What does it mean to really surrender?  Today, for me, that was put to the test.  It involved a dear friend in a hard situation.  Through lots of prayer through the situation I battled with faith or what ifs after praying.  Many times, after we pray about very life changing situations, doubt and fear creep in.  God began revealing things about faith, trust, and surrender.     We can read and pray about faith till we are blue in the face, but it's putting it into action where many of us fail.  We have head knowledge of God's justice and faithfulness but there is a disconnect when it comes to our hearts.  We can more easily believe of God's goodness and his love for others more than we can believe it for ourselves.  It's not that we want to doubt God, it's that the enemy causes us to doubt the one true power in the universe that can help or right a wrong d...

A King Who Left His Throne

Image
A KING Who Left His Throne. By Liz King      Today at Church I was in worship and a verse in a song made me think.  The song we sang was Grace of God with Us by Passion and the lyric of you rule on David's throne hit me.  Jesus had all authority of David's throne when he was here on earth but never sat on it, He never went to Herod and said, "Get off my throne!"  Even though he had all authority to claim that throne, he was going to occupy a bigger throne.  He would not sit on the throne, until he conquered his enemy.  He would destroy satan, king of this world, Sin, death, and all the demons of hell.      Jesus was the true King of Jerusalem who had all right to the throne of David , but he chose to live among his people. Jesus did not live in riches but lived and grew up in poverty.  Herod ruled as a counterfeit King and occupied the throne of David.  Isaiah 9:6-7  “For to us a child is born,   ...

Little Did I Know

Image
Little Did I Know The thoughts of Mary mother of Jesus  A poem By Liz King I held you in my arms  Not knowing you would die for me. I held your hand and you gripped mine. Never would I imagine they would be nailed to a tree. I kissed your brow,  Never did I think it would bear sin’s crown. I looked into your eyes, Never did I imagine you would see the overlooked, forgotten, and rejected and bring them life or open the eyes of the blind. I kissed your cheek, I never imagined the tears you would shed for mankind. Never could I have imagined the blood that would roll down them for mankind to bring us peace.  I remember when I lifted you up above my head. Never could I imagine you would be lifted up above me on a cross. I felt your little heartbeat,  Little did I know it would break for our sin. I kissed your precious lips, Little did I know they would speak life to the dead. I wrapped your tiny body to keep you warm. Little did I know that it would be broken for us...

Lead By Example

Image
Parents Lead by Example. By Liz King      Deuteronomy 6:5-9 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words that I give you today. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you’re at home or away, when you lie down or get up. Write them down, and tie them around your wrist, and wear them as headbands as a reminder. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.       It is important as parents to lead by example, especially when it comes to spiritual things. I am reminded of the saying monkey see, monkey do. As a parent, what do you do? How do you teach them? By speech, by action and by example?         When I held my first child in my arms for the first time I didn’t just see my child, I saw a soul destined for eternity and it is destined for heaven or hell.  God gave me the responsibility to teach them about him and what a relatio...

Outdated Jesus The New Improved Jesus

Image
Outdated Jesus The new improved Jesus….,, By Liz King      Who do you say Jesus is?? Do you justify your sin?  Is modern sin more accepting and less offensive to God because everyone accepts it and everyone is doing it?  Do the laws of sin change? Does Jesus’s ideas, standards and law change with time and culture? Does Jesus justify sin? The answer is NO! God does not change. He is perfect and does not need to change. He says in his word, “ New Living Translation      Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8. So who are the ones that change??? We are.  Our hearts change. We distort truth to condone OUR wants and reality, but our reality is opposite of God’s reality. We trade truth for a lie.      Satan will give you 10 truths mixed with one lie and those who are not in God’s word can easily be deceived and fall for the lie instead of the truth. We compromise our faith when we do not invest in...
